Cadburys New Build - Vision
LET US PUT KEYNSHAM ON THE MAP KEEP CADBURYS IN KEYNSHAM

The people of Keynsham will be expected by Cadburys to “BUY INTO” their ‘Vision’ and turn a blind eye to 90 years of local history and jobs.
However, a Keep Cadburys in Keynsham Campaign ‘Vision’, in the form of a state of the art Cadbury ‘New Build,’ is unveiled on print. The efficient and productive factory would employ some 244 people to carry on making Cadburys chocolate at source, and with very low emissions stay in keeping with local and British environmental plans.
We can boast that Bristol is the birth place of chocolate making (1728) moving to Somerdale in 1919. What better way to show off its fascinating historic journey than to build a ‘Cadbury World’ on the Somerdale site next to a Cadbury ‘New Build’.
Keynsham has the 2nd largest findings of Roman remains in the country but they are all carefully stored out of site because there has never been anywhere to display them. What a wonderful opportunity to bring Keynshams treasures out of hiding for the admiration they deserve.
# 500 – 700 houses are to be built at the top of Charlton Road, therefore there would be far less reason to build hundreds more on the Somerdale flood plain.
# We already have leisure facilities in Keynsham, is it necessary to build more on Somerdale land.
# It is most important to keep a Fry’s Social Club, all its playing fields, greens and courts for the people of Keynsham.
# A Cadbury New Build, Cadbury World and ‘home’ for the Roman remains would mean good, substantial employment, desperately needed in Keynsham.
# Ample room would still be available for more industry and businesses, hence creating jobs on Somerdale land.
It must never be forgotten that the Somerdale site is 80% flood plain, as here two rivers meet. Taking away the already flooding green land and replacing it with too much concrete would be disastrous for Keynsham as we see all too frequently elsewhere.
There is no need for Keynsham to feel like the poor relative to the wonderful and modern thriving Bristol (who’s post code and STD codes we have) nor to beautiful Bath, the worlds only heritage city (that we pay our taxes to).
Keynsham has its own huge potential with the foundations already here for visitors from far and wide to come to see and admire. Marrying the excellence of modern British industry and the history of chocolate making along with Keynshams precious Roman findings could prove to be the icing on the cake for both the lovely town of Keynsham and the oldest, productive and profitable British industry we have, Cadburys.
